Owen Taylor

Owen Taylor has been in the insurance business since 1981, when he began working at Owen & Company while attending California State University, Sacramento. What started as a job during school quickly became a career. After leaving college, he continued full-time, learning every aspect of the business from the ground up.

In 1988, Owen became one of three owners of Owen & Company, marking the beginning of his leadership journey. A decade later, in 1998, he stepped into the role of CEO and went on to lead what became Owen-Dunn Insurance. Over the next 19 years, he helped build the firm into a respected, growth-oriented agency known for strategic thinking and deep expertise in captive insurance and alternative risk solutions.

During that time, Owen became nationally recognized for his work in captive insurance and spoke to industry groups across the country about innovative approaches to managing risk.

In 2017, Owen-Dunn was sold to AssuredPartners, successfully closing that chapter after nearly two decades as CEO.

In 2023, Owen returned to his entrepreneurial roots by launching Sequel Insurance Services. Today, he brings more than four decades of experience to clients who want a thoughtful, strategic approach to risk — combining technical expertise with practical, real-world business insight.

Owen has also served on the boards of nonprofit organizations and private companies, reflecting his long-standing commitment to leadership and community involvement.
